We have plenty of activity and zeal and some real success stories – Ultimate Software, Citrix, and Magic Leap come to mind quickly, but there are others.  We need more, more of everything and better everything –  startups, exits, angel groups, seed funds, exits, talent, cooperation throughout South Florida – everything

Women’s ReciproCITY

Experience the Power of Women in Business Through Reciprocity

People get most of their lucky breaks in life through “the strength of weak ties” – i.e., through casual acquaintances and people they don’t know very well. The reason for this is that we travel in the same circles as our good friends. They know most of the same people, the same opportunities, and the same resources as we do. But when we stumble across a relative stranger, they travel in completely different circles. They are exposed to different resources, ideas, and people than we are. They might be able to connect us with resources and people that we would have never otherwise encountered.

When you give to other people, chances are they will give back. Reciprocity is one of the strongest forms of human influence. If you want someone to help you, the best way is to help them first.

Join us on November 19, 2015 to generate a series of lucky breaks. For three hours you will be paired with different groups of women. Each of you will state a personal or professional goal that you have. The other members of your group will suggest connections and resources that will help you fulfill your request. It is then up to you to follow up in the coming days and weeks.

Make sure to come prepared with your goals in mind so that you can share with as many people as possible. It is estimated that there is an average of 3 solutions generated for every request.

WEDNESDAY (11/18): Celebrating The Value In Failures

WEDNESDAY (11/18):

Celebrating The Value In Failures

Failure in business is when you realize what you’re doing is not going to work, and the pivot that follows is key to success. In Silicon Valley and New York, failures are famously celebrated and treated as valuable learning experiences. However, in many U.S. and Latin American cities with nascent entrepreneurial ecosystems, the term “failure” remains taboo.

This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, YPA Miami and Luminary Central bring you local entrepreneurs from various sectors to share their stories of success—peppered with failures both large and small—for a conversation aimed at breaking the taboo.

Join us on November 18 @ The Lab Miami as we discuss with high-profile entrepreneurs how their failures led to their subsequent success, and their learnings along the way. Luminary Central and YPA Miami have joined forces to present this panel discussion in an effort to lessen the taboo of “failure” and celebrate the value in its learnings.

Confirmed speakers*:

  • Michael “Mike” B. Fernandez, Chairman, MBF Healthcare Partners
  • Ivan Rapin-Smith, Director, Watsco Ventures
  • Lilia Luciano, Journalist & Founder of CoInspire (moderator)

*additional speakers to be confirmed

Mariana Rego – Design Thinking – Through experimentation you can achieve best results

Yes, you should spend time and effort getting to know your user, particularly what she’s not telling you; yes, you should prototype early and often; and absolutely, you should get comfortable with failure because only through experimentation can you achieve the best results.
